Flavorful Buffalo Wings

The Super Bowl is over and sadly the Carolina Panthers did not win (I live in Charlotte).  One of the most popular dishes served at Super Bowl parties are chicken wings.  I know I should have posted this recipe prior to the Super Bowl, but I did not want it to get lost in the mass number of hot wing recipes that flood the Internet before the big game.

I love Buffalo Wings, but the problem is that most places I have eaten them at are either soggy or have no flavor.  I hate that!!  Wings need to be crispy (soggy chicken skin is sooooo gross)!  My sons and I agree that I can do a much better job making Buffalo Wings at home better than any restaurant we have ever been to.  So I am going to share this recipe with you so that you can make these amazing wings at home yourself.  They are easy and taste great.  After you make these, you will not want to order hot wings in another restaurant ever again.

Flavorful Buffalo Wing Ingredients:

  • 2.5 pounds of wings (about 16 - 18 wing pieces average) (you can use whole wings too if you would like)
  • Cracked black pepper
  • Sea Salt
  • Frantoio Valtenesi Chili Pepper Infused Olive Oil
  • 5 Cups of clean Peanut Oil
  • 2 Tablespoons Chili infused B-spheres
  • 1/2 Cup of your favorite hot sauce (I like Franks)
  • 3 Tablespoons of butter
  • 2 Tablespoons of creamy French dressing
  • 1 Tablespoon of honey (this adds a little tiny bit of sweetness to the sauce and helps the sauce stick to the wings)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of dried parsley

Flavorful Buffalo Wing Recipe:

  1. Spray a large sheet pan with pan spray
  2. Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees
  3. Lay wings in a single layer on sheet pan
  4. Drizzle Frantoio Valtenesi Chili Pepper Infused Olive Oil over each wing (key word = DRIZZLE)
  5. Sprinkle sea salt and pepper over all of the wings
  6. Bake in oven for 30 minutes
  7. While wings are baking heat peanut oil in a heavy bottom deep pan, Dutch Oven, or Deep Fryer
  8. Also while wings are baking melt butter in a large bowl
  9. Add all remaining ingredients to melted butter, stirring well to make the Buffalo sauce
  10. When wings are done cooking in the oven, pull them out and in small batches of 6 - 10 wings (depending upon the size of the wings and pan you are using - do not crowd the wings) fry wings for 6 - 8 minutes (until wings are a warm golden brown and crispy)
  11. Pull Wings out of hot oil and put directly into the Buffalo sauce
  12. Toss wings so each wing is adequately covered with sauce
  13. Repeat with remaining wings
  14. Plate quickly while they are still hot and crispy
  15. Serve with your favorite dip (blue cheese or ranch normally) and sides (like carrots and celery)
